Role Purpose
The Associate Tax Manager owns end‑to‑end tax reporting processes and ensures full compliance with local and international tax regulations across EMEA. The role leads a team of tax professionals, ensuring data quality for VAT/CIT compliance, and tax audits assistance, coordinates e‑invoicing and SAF‑T reporting, and partners closely with Global Tax, Local Offices, and GBS process teams to deliver timely filings, robust controls, and continuous process improvement. The Tax Manager helps deliver ERP and automation initiatives (SAP S/4HANA / Tax Tools). We’re looking for a people leader with strong EMEA VAT expertise. CIT experience is a plus.

 

Key Responsibilities:

VAT Compliance & Reporting

  • Interpret and operationalize VAT regulations for multiple countries, serving as expert for VAT in Europe in connection with Global Tax team.
  • Lead and oversee preparation, review, and on‑time submission of VAT, ESL and Intrastat returns in various tax jurisdictions, ensuring continuous activity, accuracy and completeness.
  • Provide day‑to‑day guidance to team members on VAT topics and ensure transactions are tax‑compliant and optimized.
  • Review of the reconciliations prepared by the team members suggests write offs to eliminate old items.
  • Coordinate tax payments and submissions for KPI purposes and ensure proper documentation.
  • Answer VAT-related questions from colleagues across a range of GBS/Local departments, in coordination with Global Tax.
  • Maintain the due date calendar of obligations.
  • Monitor and interpret changes in tax legislation, assessing their impact and advising on compliance adjustments in coordination with GBS and Global Tax leadership.
  • Working with existing service providers to ensure necessary and accurate returns are made.

E‑Invoicing, SAF‑T & Data Quality

  • Keep high attention on the correct application of EMEA e‑invoicing, VAT reporting, and SAF‑T agenda; secure conformity with local schemas and cross‑border rules.
  • Ensure integrity, traceability, and efficiency of tax data flows across platforms and reports.

Audits & Tax Authority Interactions

  • Act as GBS Tax Team representative in case of audits and reviews led by Global Tax.
  • Coordinate GBS Inputs to tax audits, enquiries, and notices; prepare responses, robust audit files and lead remediation actions where needed.
  • Support internal audits.

People Leadership

  • Lead, coach, and develop a team of 6–8; allocate workload, set priorities, and run quality reviews.
  • Build a high‑performance culture with clear goals, feedback, and growth paths.
  • Track and communicate tax KPIs.

Projects & Continuous Improvement

  • Support finance transformation and ERP initiatives (e.g., SAP S/4HANA), working with GBS teams.
  • Identify process risks and opportunities, drive automation and standardization of tax processes and controls.
  • Assist in the implementation of VAT reporting technology (automation).

 

 

We're the perfect match, if You have: 

Professional Experience

  • 5–7+ years of progressive experience in indirect tax within international environments. Direct tax is a plus.
  • Proven track record leading teams and managing end‑to‑end compliance cycles (VAT/CIT).
  • Experience in Shared Services / GBS set‑ups is an advantage.

Technical Skills

  • Strong, practical knowledge of EMEA VAT rules (including cross‑border context). Working knowledge of CIT is a plus.
  • Hands‑on ERP exposure (Microsoft Dynamics AX and/or SAP S/4HANA) and advanced Excel skills.
  • Understanding of e‑invoicing and SAF‑T frameworks and related data requirements.
  • Commitment to continuous improvement and can-do mindset, driving efficiency and process enhancements in tax operations.

Soft Skills

  • Strong leadership, stakeholder management, and communication skills.
  • Analytical mindset, problem‑solving orientation and focus on details.
  • Ability to work under time pressure across multiple jurisdictions and deadlines.
  • Excellent communication, flexibility, innovative thinking, exposure on dealing with (senior) management, judgement and decision making, working independently.

Education & Certifications

  • Master’s degree in accounting, Finance, Economics, or Taxation preferred.
  • Professional tax/accounting certifications are an asset.
