Main Purpose of the role:

  • The Product Manager role is a tactical role with ownership of the Product Backlog for digital development and is responsible for prioritising and maintaining it. This role is part of the China product delivery team, who are responsible for planning, prioritizing and agreeing the roadmap of initiatives within the Ecommerce and Omni-channel space in China (specifically TMall, JD, our D2C brand site, WeChat and future selling channels).
  • They will be responsible for working with the team to develop product features, ensuring that the development team are working on the items that will deliver the most significant customer and business value. At Pandora, the Product Manager will also support the creation and maintenance of longer-term product artefacts, including the product roadmap.
  • The core responsibility of the role is to work with internal business stakeholders, external experts, UX designers, researchers, and technical teams to optimize digital experiences with two key goals in mind: maximize user/customer satisfaction and achieve business objectives.
  • It is critical they maintain a strong working relationship with the Product Director for the team within which they are working, namely ‘China’.

 

Main Purpose of the role:

  • Understand and contribute to the product strategy, vision, objectives, and key results; in collaboration with the Product Director
  • Understand and maintain / contribute to the product roadmap
  • Understand and keep up to date with emerging Ecommerce/OMS, omni-channel initiatives, clienteling services, Alibaba/Tencent proprietary, personalization & related technologies, trends and innovative solutions being implemented across the industry, particularly China-specific solutions. Assess these for Pandora fit and ensure stakeholders are informed of opportunity areas.
  • Create and maintain the roadmap, pulling the direction from the Product Director
  • Ensure there are sufficient user stories, that have been refined and estimated by the team, for upcoming sprints
  • Carry out analysis of impact, scope, and technical dependencies for user stories, working with Engineers, Architects and the wider IT team to understand technical implications, as required
  • Own and maintain the product backlog to reflect priority changes and the addition of new user stories, taking account of technical dependencies
  • Work collaboratively with other Product Managers to refine the backlog and identify cross journey dependencies, and how they will be managed within / between the respective products
  • Schedule, plan and document critical Product governance sessions, e.g. Product Council, to ensure we are building the ‘right thing’ enabling the collective success of the product, delivery and engineering teams
  • Write stories for continuous, iterative improvements and A/B tests aimed at improving product performance
  • Carry out continuous refinement of the product backlog with the team through regular and frequent backlog refinement sessions
  • Own the ‘what’ of sprint planning meetings to provide clarity and elaborate user stories to help the team better understand the requirements
  • Define the acceptance criteria for each user story, and the ‘Definition of Done’ that must be met, with the Scrum team
  • Organize and lead the Sprint Review sessions, presenting the Sprint outcome to the wider stakeholders
  • Add and maintain user stories in Jira with the relevant support documentation
  • Actively engage in daily stand up meetings, as required by the development team
  • Contribute to sprint retrospectives to foster continuous improvement within the Squad
  • As the expert for your product, be confident and forthright in your backlog, saying ‘no’ where the data and insights don’t support following a particular path
  • Protect the Scrum team by confidently and diplomatically rejecting unnecessary changes to the sprint backlog mid-sprint
  • Actively participate within the community of Product Managers to foster best practice and consistency of approach

 

 

Pivotal and Professional Qualifications:

  • Bachelor degree of Ecommerce-related majors are highly preferred
  • 5 years’ experience in product ownership / management, demonstrating successful development and delivery of product strategies, roadmaps through to product launch and optimization
  • Experience of owning digital products with multiple stakeholders and complex, competing priorities
  • Experience and passion for the Chinese retail market and a deep understanding of the customer. Demonstrable ability to take ownership and make effective decisions
  • Have good data analytic capability and familiar with multiple user behaviour tracking platforms
  • Expert on the data driven and help team to use data to help on story telling and decision making
  • Ability to quickly understand customer and business value of new product features
  • Ability to apply agile analysis techniques for defining and creating user stories and acceptance criteria
  • Ability to quickly understand the technology landscape of the product area they are working in
  • Ability to produce high quality supporting artefacts to assist the team in the development of the feature
  • Use good judgement to make sound prioritization decisions based on the value of a feature and the estimated risk / time / technical complexity to deliver it into production use
  • Strong communication skills with business and technical stakeholders
  • Delivery focused with excellent attention to detail and strong drive to resolve issues
  • Strong team working and collaboration skills demonstrated in Scrum/agile environments
  • Excellent knowledge of agile Scrum methodology and practices
  • Demonstrable ability to take ownership and make effective decisions •    Extensive experience of applying data and insight to inform decision-making
  • Establishes and maintains constructive and collaborative relationships with all business areas
  • Demonstrates pragmatic judgement, balancing risk and business value to reach decisions which are well informed and actionable
  • Is proactive in planning to achieve targets and objectives which deliver profitable outcomes
