Legal Manager

The Legal Manager role will be a member of a global legal, risk and compliance department with approximately 50 colleagues around the world and will focus on advising Pandora’s North American business on a wide range of legal matters, including contract and transactional work, franchising, privacy, marketing, employment, and litigation matters. The role will also have occasion to assist Pandora’s business in LATAM.  

 

This role may be based in Baltimore or New York City and reports to the General Counsel for North and South America.

 

As a member of a small legal team in NAM, the Legal Manager will be required to pitch in on a wide variety of matters. The position requires a confident and experienced attorney who is comfortable in a fast-paced environment, and who can quickly synthesize and advise the business with respect to subject matters that the attorney has not previously had significant experience. Superior communication and relationship building skills are critical. The candidate must be comfortable interacting with various levels in the organization and operating in a matrixed environment. A qualified candidate will have at least 10 years of corporate legal experience, ideally including both in-house and law firm training. Prior in-house experience in consumer products and/or retail sectors is preferred. The successful candidate will have a demonstrated willingness to act as a team player, will be intellectually curious, detail oriented and interested in personal and organizational improvement.

 

Essential Functions:

  • Managing litigation and business disputes, including coordination with outside counsel.
  • Providing legal advice, counselling and support to management regarding general retail law and regulatory matters.
  • Reviewing and drafting contracts dealing with a wide variety of subject matters.
  • Advising the company on marketing practices, promotional and advertising matters.
  • Advising on privacy matters and policies and the use of consumer data.
  • Managing employment law matters arising from both retail stores and corporate offices
  • Providing legal support and advice regarding a breadth of other legal matters.
  • As needed to support ongoing strategies and initiatives

 

Something About You:

  • 10+ years of experience as an attorney
  • Must have JD degree and be licensed to practice law in current good standing with a U.S. State
  • Law firm experience and experience in a corporate legal department in the retail and/or consumer products industries is preferred
  • Sound risk assessment capabilities.
  • Detail oriented, organized, reliable, resourceful with a focus on servicing the business.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work effectively and creatively in a resource lean environment.
  • Ability to work independently, multi-task and prioritize under pressure.
  • Excellent consultative skills and the ability to work cross-functionally and with all levels of the organization.
  • Comfortable interfacing with senior leadership.
  • Track record of building relationships with other functional partners.
  • Ability to make informed objective decisions and exercise sound legal and business judgment.
