The Financial Controlling Manager APAC has a holistic view on all financial operations, acting as a Balance Sheet subject matter expert and trusted business partner in the APAC region. In this role, acts as a single point of contact and holds responsibility for good quality of reported figures and accuracy of the financial processes. The Financial Controlling Manager is expected to provide data to support decision-making and help other members of the organization to understand the broader perspective and financial implications. Within the role, handles queries from internal/external partners in a timely and accurate manner and maintains close collaboration with GBS departments, Local Finance Teams, Group Reporting & Internal Audit.

Your Role as a Financial Controlling Manager:

  • Acts as market controller, single point of contact for business partners, responsible for good quality of reported figures and ensuring accuracy in financial processes.
  • Maintains close cooperation with the GBS teams, Group Accounting, Group Tax and Cluster Finance in ensuring that overall reporting package is accurate, risks are raised and properly addressed in practice
  • Applies expertise related to balance sheet and principles of financial compliance in role of a trusted advisor, one who actively troubleshoots and proposes practical solutions.
  • Ensures the accuracy of reported numbers, identify accounting issues that need attention or adjustments
  • Works closely with the broad GBS & finance organization, providing support, sharing knowledge and providing trainings on day-to-day activities
  • Performs P&L and BS analytical review and provide explanation for fluctuations
  • Ensure adherence to internal control policies and procedures, conducting regular assessments to identify areas for improvement
  • Liaise with external and internal auditors to facilitate all relevant financial audits, addressing findings and implementing corrective actions.
  • Using critical thinking skills identifies opportunities for process improvements and standardization
  • Establish and enforce financial governance policies and procedures in accordance with regional and global standards
  • Monitor and ensure compliance with local financial regulations and reporting requirements.

 

What is needed to succeed:

  • Bachelor’s and/or master’s degree in finance, accounting or related field
  • Minimum 10 years of experience with accounting and compliance, excellent understanding of the financial numbers, Risk and Control frameworks, combined with solid business knowledge
  • Strong understanding of financial regulations and reporting and statutory requirements in the APAC region.
  • Experience from similar role(s) and responsibility in a global and international organization
  • Japanese proficiency is a BIG PLUS
  • Stakeholder management, business partnering, and influencing
  • Strong and effective communication – verbal and written
  • Willing to travel regularly within the cluster and have an international mindset
  • Knowledge of ERP systems (SAP, Oracle, Microsoft Dynamics)
  • Knowledge of reporting system (preferably HFM)
  • Good knowledge of Microsoft Office tools, particularly in MS Excel
  • Ability to be part of a team, set challenging standards, develop strong partnerships, and lead others to action.
