Senior Data & AI Platform Engineer

Join us in one of the most interesting challenges in Data Engineering in 2025: Crafting a Data & AI platform that makes creating and using data products a seamless and fast experience. We provide the platform for teams across consumer engagement, supply chain, finance, merchandising, and manufacturing domains to build data, analytics, and AI products for the world's largest jewellery company.

As a Data & AI Platform Engineer, you will play a crucial role in designing, developing, and maintaining the infrastructure and platform essential for scaling our data impact across the organization. Your contribution will be pivotal in creating a secure and private data platform, delivering SDKs that speed up data product deliveries, ensuring seamless creation of resources, and creating robust automated deployment flows.

Key Responsibilities

  • Own the architecture and evolution of the Data & AI platform; design secure, scalable, multi-region services and core infrastructure.
  • Operate and scale AI/GenAI capabilities with strong governance and cost control.
  • Automate provisioning, access, and policy enforcement so data products are fast by default, safe by design, and fully auditable.
  • Establish patterns for batch, streaming, and ML/AI workloads; drive interoperability via data contracts and shared schemas.
  • Define and uphold CI/CD, testing, and release standards; set SLOs/SLIs, lead incident response, and drive post-mortem learning.
  • Curate and evolve the DevOps/toolchain (IaC, secrets, orchestration, observability); lead upgrades and platform integrations.
  • Influence roadmaps with senior stakeholders; mentor engineers and guide cross-domain initiatives from discovery to production.

Your Skills & Background

  • Proven track record building and operating end-to-end data platforms as a Senior/Staff/Principal Data, Platform, MLOps, or DevOps Engineer.
  • Expert software engineering in distributed, polyglot systems; strong design, code quality, and review practices.
  • Advanced Python skills; proficiency in one or more additional language
  • Deep Infrastructure-as-Code experience (Terraform modules, workspaces, policy-as-code such as OPA/Sentinel; multi-account/cloud patterns)
  • Strong cloud and data systems knowledge: Databricks/Spark, Delta Lake/Lakehouse, SQL/NoSQL, stream processing (Kafka/Event Hubs), object storage.
  • Hands-on building platform SDKs and API integrations with versioning, packaging, and backward-compatibility guarantees.
  • Operational experience with orchestration frameworks (Airflow, Databricks Workflows, Prefect, Dagster) and event-driven architectures.
  • Security and privacy expertise: IAM, network isolation, secrets management, masking/lineage; awareness of GDPR and data residency.
  • Observability at scale (Prometheus, Grafana, New Relic, OpenTelemetry, ELK); data quality/lineage tooling (e.g., Unity Catalog, Great Expectations)
  • FinOps leadership: cost modelling/optimization for compute, storage, and egress; chargeback/show back experience
  • Great skills in communication and influence; mentoring and cross-functional decision-making with technical and executive audiences

Education & Experience

  • 4–8 years experience building production-quality software & data products.
  • Bachelors or Masters degree and/or equivalent professional experience
