Engineer

This role offers the unique opportunity for you to cooperate in building the enterprise service layer for Pandora tracking Azure costs, logs and metadata from the company Power BI tenant and translating them into insights available to all stakeholders.
About the ATHENA team at Pandora:
ATHENA is the one stop shop for reporting in Pandora. All enterprise company reports are built in Power BI and hosted in ATHENA from where everyone can access and consume data, insights and self-service analytics products.
As a Data Engineer you and the team will work across SharePoint, Power Platform, Power BI, Synapse Analytics and other technologies to collect and store user logs and metadata from the Power BI tenant.
The team is also cooperating on building the new Azure costs reporting platform, to monitor and track all the costs on a daily/monthly basis.
All the data is transformed into visualization layers and exposed to our stakeholders, who can consume it.
You role will be to take care of the data ingestion and manipulation process from the source to the visualization layer.
Role and responsibilities:
Data ingestion:
- Collect and integrate various data sources to support business needs.
- Create an maintain high quality CD/CI data pipeline architecture.
- Connect to multiple datasources, design end to end dataflows to ingest the data into the datawarehouse.
- Call Power BI REST API to gather relevant data and insights.
- Call Power BI and SharePoint audit logs.
Monitoring and troubleshooting:
- Monitor daily execution for the pipelines. Troubleshoot and fix errors and failures.
- Automate manual processes, optimize data delivery, improve data quality, etc.
Database design and development:
- Contribute to the design of the company’s monitoring datawarehouse. Write T-SQL scripts to create tables, stored procedures, views to ingest and transform the data, all the way to the visualization layer.
- Check the database’s state. Troubleshoot critical queries, perform health checks, add indexes, perform cleaning and shrinking, prevent data loss.
- Perform database backup and recovery.
You’re perfect for this role if you have:
- Experience with API consumption.
- Hands-on experience with Azure DevOps repositories, including creation and deployment of CD/CI pipelines.
- Proficiency with DataBricks, Azure Data Factory (ADF), Data Lake, Synapse, T/U-SQL, DAX and SQL Server
- Knowledge of the Azure Synapse Analytics data layers including both serverless and dedicated SQL Pools.
- Hands-on with Git and coding best practice.
- Experience in working with relational data sets using SQL .
- Experience with data warehousing, dimensional modelling and cubes.
- Database fundamentals and performance tuning (objects, keys, constraints, indexes, queries …).
- Basic knowledge of the Power BI Service platform.
- Basic understanding of the Fabric environment.
Experience Required:
- Experience working in a team with shared tasks and responsibilities.
- Experience with Agile development processes and working in cross-functional teams.
- Communication and presentation skills to effectively convey design concepts and rationale to the team.
- Passion for staying updated on emerging trends and industry best practices.
- Highly proficient in English with the ability to communicate effectively at all levels.
