As part of our ongoing efforts to transform how we leverage data and AI to shape our business, we are looking for a visionary Engineering Director to lead our Engineering teams in Data & Analytics. You will play a key role in shaping the future of our global data and analytics organization, driving large-scale initiatives, and building world-class solutions that power our data-driven strategies.

 

About the Role

As the Engineering Director, you will lead cross-functional teams in data engineering, domain architecture, and data visualization covering data products across our fully integrated value chain. You are a visionary with an equal eye for the technologies, innovation, business benefits and outcomes this can drive. You are passionate about building high performing engineering teams working closely with colleagues across the company to derive the right solutions for Pandora’s continued success. You will work closely with colleagues and teams across the business to deliver data-driven solutions that support our strategic objectives across the value chain.

 

Your key responsibilities will include:

 

Leadership & Strategy

  • Lead, mentor, and grow a high-performing team of data engineers, domain architects, and data visualization specialists.

  • Develop and execute a data engineering strategy that aligns with the organization’s long-term vision and goals.

  • Partner with senior leaders in Data, Technology, and Business to define and deliver data infrastructure, architecture, and visualization solutions that drive business impact.

  • Create a collaborative and innovative engineering culture focused on data excellence, continuous improvement, and agile methodologies.

 

Data Engineering & Architecture

  • Oversee the design and implementation of scalable and efficient data pipelines, ensuring high-quality, reliable data processing at a global scale.
  • Contribute to the development and optimization of data architecture, ensuring it is robust, flexible, and adaptable to business needs.
  • Ensure proper governance, security, and compliance across all data engineering and architecture solutions in collaboration with Data mgt and platform teams
  • Drive best practices in data engineering, including automation where possible, CI/CD, and data testing frameworks.

 

Data Visualization & Insights:

  • Oversee the design and implementation of advanced data visualization tools and dashboards to empower business users with actionable insights – and enable self-service
  • Ensure that data visualization solutions are user-friendly, intuitive, and align with business requirements.
  • Lead efforts to foster a data-driven culture across the organization by enabling stakeholders to leverage data for better decision-making.

 

Collaboration & Stakeholder Management:

  • Work with business stakeholders to understand key data requirements, priorities, and challenges, ensuring alignment with engineering and architectural solutions.
  • Establish strong cross-functional relationships with other technology teams, business leaders, and analytics professionals.
  • Communicate the impact of data engineering and visualization initiatives to executive leadership and other stakeholders.

 

Innovation & Continuous Improvement:

  • Stay at the forefront of emerging data technologies and trends, identifying opportunities to incorporate new innovations into the organization’s data stack.
  • Foster a culture of continuous learning and improvement within the teams, encouraging experimentation and the adoption of cutting-edge tools and methodologies with a constant eye to business impact.

 

Global Team Management:

  • Lead and manage a geographically distributed team of internals and externals, ensuring effective communication, collaboration, and alignment across global regions.
  • Drive resource planning, talent & career development, and performance management for the teams under your leadership.

 

In order to suceed in this role, we expect that you have and can demonstrate:

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Data Science, or related field (or equivalent work experience).
  • Experience in data engineering, data architecture, and data visualization with experience from a leadership capacity.
  • Proven experience managing large-scale data engineering teams and global data initiatives in an enterprise or retail environment.
  • Strong expertise in modern data engineering technologies (e.g., cloud platforms, ETL/ELT tools, big data frameworks, data lakes, data warehousing).
  • Expertise in data architecture best practices, including design principles, scalability, and performance optimization.
  • Deep understanding of data visualization tools (e.g., Tableau, Power BI, Looker) and experience designing data visualization solutions for complex business requirements.
  • Strong leadership skills with a proven track record of building high-performing teams, driving innovation, and influencing at all levels of an organization.
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to simplify complex technical concepts for non-technical stakeholders.
  • Ability to drive results in a fast-paced, global organization and manage multiple priorities effectively.

 

Additional preferred qualifications would be:

  • Experience in retail or e-commerce data systems – manufacturing and supply chain a plus
  • Knowledge of AI/ML technologies and their application in data engineering and analytics.
  • Experience with Agile/Scrum methodologies and DevOps practices in a data engineering context.
  • Experience with global data governance, compliance, and security standards.
