Are you a visionary leader with a passion for transforming retail environments? Pandora is looking for a Concept Development Director to shape and advance our store concepts. In this pivotal role, you will drive the development and enhancement of both our current and future store designs, ensuring they align with our ambition to become a leading global jewellery brand.

 

As the Concept Development Director, you will be responsible for developing and maintaining Pandora’s current and future store concepts. As a strong creative leader, you will focus on delivering a desirable store environment that supports our ambition to become a full jewelry brand. On key projects, such as new retail concepts and flagship stores, you will take the design lead and provide direction to ensure that great, commercial design solutions are implemented from idea to execution. You will drive innovation, constantly seeking to improve and optimize Pandora’s store concepts. As a skilled presenter, you will use both your communication and visual design skills to convey your ideas to our many stakeholders.

 

You will report to the VP of Store Design and partner closely with the Director of Creative Studio, Store Planning Director, Operations Director, and the Global Indirect Procurement team in your day-to-day work. Together, you will elevate our store experience while building cross-functional processes and alignment to ensure on-time, on-budget, scalable solutions. You will oversee a team of six design professionals in the Concept Development team, setting their work priorities and leading their professional development and growth.

 

Key Accountabilities


As the Concept Development Director, your role encompasses several critical areas that drive the evolution and excellence of Pandora’s store environments.

 

Concept Development:

  • Develop and design new retail concepts—either in-house or in collaboration with external agencies.
  • Advance store concepts and fixtures for global implementation, including fixture specifications, value engineering, and design optimization.
  • Collaborate closely with all functions within the Store Creative & Design team to ensure a cohesive and elevated store environment.
  • Communicate concept strategy, vision, and goals effectively to internal and external stakeholders.
  • Evaluate market trends, user insights, and the competitive landscape.
  • Support fixture and furniture tenders and assist in supplier selections.


Concept Management:

  • Manage concepts from idea to implementation phase, overseeing the global assortment of fixtures and furniture.
  • Design or manage the design of fixtures, in-store displays, and sales support tools, and ensure concept testing and validation.
  • Ensure store design excellence and concept understanding through guidelines and training.
  • Conduct market and supplier visits to gain retail insights and leverage the latest production and innovation opportunities, building close relationships with key stakeholders.

 

Store Design:

  • Design or oversee the design of new flagship stores, tailoring the store concept to reflect the cultural relevance of each specific location.
  • Manage project timelines, budgets, and communications to ensure seamless alignment between the Store Creative & Design team, market demands, and executive management.

 

Team Leadership:

  • Cultivate a collaborative and innovative culture, promoting growth and creativity within the team.
  • Continuously evaluate team performance, offer constructive feedback, set clear goals, and identify opportunities for skill enhancement.
  • Oversee budget management, allocate resources efficiently, and prioritize design initiatives in alignment with business objectives.
     

Qualifications and Competencies
To succeed as the Concept Development Director, you will need to demonstrate a blend of significant professional experience, specialized skills, and key personal attributes:

 

Experience:

  • Leading a creative team in a global retail organization for at least 10 years.
  • Implementing global retail concepts.
  • Expertise in optimizing and value engineering retail fixtures and furniture, with extensive knowledge of suppliers and materials.
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to simplify and convey complex messages effectively.

Other Skills:

  • Master’s Degree in Architecture, Interior Design, or Design Management.
  • Proficiency in Revit, Vray (or similar design software), Adobe Suite, and Microsoft Office Suite.
