Job description: 

We’re on a mission to turn data into business value and are now looking for an experienced Data Science Manager to help drive the future of our team and scale our Data & Analytics Center of Excellence to the next level.  The ideal candidate will have solid experience in building competitive advantage through advanced data and analytics products at the enterprise level and a solid technical background with extensive experience building and leading data science teams comprising specialists.   

 

In this role your key accountabilities will be to: 

  • Lead design, implementation and scaling of advanced analytical products that support business objectives and vision across the value chain and drive adoption across business units, markets and technology platforms.  

  • Serve and partner with stakeholders as senior SME on Data Science area. 

  • Provide guidance and oversight for the Data Science team to solve complex multi-disciplinary challenges. 

  • Accountable and responsible for Data Science products end-to-end.  

  • Build and nurture a results-driven team culture to ensure effectiveness of products and teams.  

  • Build organizational capabilities by attracting, developing, and retaining a team of world-class Data Science talent.  

  • Collaborate with the Machine Learning Engineering team and the wider Digital and Technology organization to evolve and scale the use of Data Science in production environments following MLOps principles.  

  • Develop and establish data science standards together with the wider engineering and technology community.  

 

What is needed to succeed:  

  • An advanced degree in computer science, natural sciences, operations research or related field or an equally strong analytical background. 

  • Excellent written and oral communication skills with an ability to explain complex data science concepts to stakeholders in other engineering and analytics teams, product management etc.  

  • 6+ years of professional data science and machine learning experience, within big data application scenarios. 

  • Extensive working experience in programming using Python, PySpark, R, SQL, or Matlab.  

  • Expert-level experience with one or more machine learning frameworks (scikit-learn, Spark ML, TensorFlow, PyTorch, Keras). 

  • Working knowledge of Git, DevOps, MLflow, Databricks, Docker, Kubernetes, Airflow. 

  • Experience working with cloud infrastructure (Azure is a plus), IaaS, and PaaS. 

  • 2+ years of experience in building and managing Data Science teams responsible for designing and developing productionized Machine Learning models. 

  • Track record of recruiting and retaining data scientists and data and analytics talent.  

  • Industry presence and thought leadership through published research, blogging, conferences, meetups, open-source contributions. 

  • Outcome driven mindset with a solid always-be-shipping mentality.
