Data Architect

City:  Copenhagen V
Country/Region:  DK
Application Deadline:  As soon as possible

As Data Architect for D&A you will be responsible for enterprise data architecture, designing conceptual and logical data models that guide Commerce, Finance, Manufacturing, Supply Chain, Merchandising, Consumer and other data transformations at Pandora.

In this data architecture role, you will define enterprise-wide data models, create conceptual data architectures, create naming standards, and establish information blueprints that engineering teams loves and implements. Working across our commerce, manufacturing, and supply chain operations spanning our clusters and markets, you will ensure our data architecture makes information accessible and trustworthy for both analytical insights and AI innovations, enabling Pandora's journey to become the world's leading jewellery company.

Key accountabilities include:

  • Leading enterprise information architecture design, creating semantic, conceptual, logical models that engineering teams translate into Azure Synapse and Databricks based physical implementations.
  • Architecting domain data models for commerce (store, consumer, marketing, omnichannel, e-commerce), manufacturing (production, quality, materials), and supply chain (wholesale, inventory, distribution, planning) that reflect business capabilities.
  • Designing data product interfaces and semantic contracts that define how business entities flow through bronze-to-gold transformations, enabling interoperability between domain-owned data products.
  • Developing semantic layer architectures that provide business-oriented abstractions, hiding technical complexity while enabling self-service analytics.
  • Review data architectural blueprints for core application transformation (SAP, Salesforce, o9, workforce management) ensuring smooth transitional architecture while maintaining business continuity.
  • Co-create master data management strategies for products, customers, suppliers, and stores, establishing authoritative sources and harmonization patterns across systems together with master data responsible.
  • Establishing data quality measures and modelling standards embedded in architectural patterns: operational schemas in bronze, conformed and dimensional entities in silver, and consumption-ready models in gold.
  • Reviewing key physical model proposals from engineering teams, ensuring alignment with enterprise information data models.
  • Designing information value chains and data product specifications with clear contracts for downstream consumption by analytics, AI, and data consumers.
  • Mapping business capabilities to information domains, creating bounded contexts aligned with Domain-Driven Design principles for manufacturing, commerce, and supply chain.
  • Providing architectural oversight through design reviews and decision records to ensure adherence to data standards and governance requirements.
  • Contribute to business glossaries and semantic models that bridge business language and technical implementation, ensuring consistent understanding across technical and business stakeholders.
  • Mentoring teams on data architectural best practices while documenting anti-patterns to avoid common pitfalls in dimensional modelling and naming standards.

What is needed to succeed:

  • 5-7+ years as a practicing data architect with proven experience designing enterprise-scale information architectures (multi-source, multi-domain at scale) that successfully went into production.
  • Domain expertise in commerce, manufacturing, or supply chain data models - understanding product hierarchies, inventory flows, customer journeys, manufacturing, or merchandising analytics.
  • Demonstrated experience architecting shared data models in modern lakehouse patterns, including defining silver-layer conformance standards and gold-layer consumption contracts.
  • Practical experience with both traditional dimensional modeling (Kimball, Data Vault etc.) and modern data mesh/lakehouse patterns, with ability to guide teams through transitional architectures harmonizing both paradigms.
  • Understanding of Azure data platform capabilities (Synapse, Databricks, Unity Catalog, Data Factory) to guide architectural decisions in daily implementations.
  • Track record of guiding teams through major digital transformations, particularly SAP S/4HANA migrations, o9 implementations, or multi-system platform modernizations.
  • Demonstrated ability to create semantic layers and logical models that achieved actual business adoption and self-service analytics usage.
  • Experience establishing master data management patterns and data governance frameworks integrated into architectural design.
  • Excellence in stakeholder communication - explaining data architecture to non-technical audiences while providing technical guidance to engineering teams.
  • Collaborative leadership style - guiding teams to good decisions rather than mandating solutions, with pragmatic approach balancing best practices with delivery realities.
  • Experience establishing reusable patterns and reference architectures that accelerate delivery across multiple domains and teams.
