Creative Director, Brand - Interim

We are looking for a Creative Director (interim) who will be responsible for helping bring brand-specific work to life by working closely with our VP of Brand Creative, our in-house creative team and our cross-functional partners.
This person will have a passion for design and will generate inspiring ideas while playing a key leadership role within the creative department. We are looking for a creative director who is able to interpret business requirements and briefs from partners quickly and translate them into elegant, creative solutions. They must also be exceptional at pitching creative concepts to company stakeholders, as well as communicating ideas and creating concepts for other team members.
The ideal candidate will possess creative expertise within luxury fashion, beauty and/or hospitality industries, and will ensure that projects are executed to Pandora’s aesthetically rigorous standards. They will also lead projects in addition to being part of larger creative teams.
The Creative Director will help to organize efforts cross functionally for the creative execution and direction of campaigns and projects. As a key manager and leader, this person will help define the creative needs and execute them across all media platforms, including brand identity governance, brand design, customization of design assets, 360º branding, marketing materials, print and digital. They will work closely with internal teams including other creatives at the Global Office and around the world, business partners in Jewellery, Diamonds and special services, production, post-production, project management and teams in Retail, E-comm, Social Media, PR and Media and Corporate Communications to achieve on-brand and on-time projects.
As a team leader, the Creative Director will serve as a mentor and guide for junior creative staff, including seasonal reviews, career coaching, and liaising with HR to assess opportunities for employee growth, resource allocation, and project planning.
What You'll Do
- Distill abstract business concepts and client needs into refined, elegant creative solutions.
- Take responsibility for the creative vision and the standard of output across team members who work under them.
- Ask smart questions, take risks, and champion new ideas.
- Be vigilant about helping us fine-tune our creative process so projects are delivered on-time, on-brand and on-budget.
- Graphic Design and Art Direction: key executions on 360º projects (branding, deck typesetting, photo art direction for model shoot and still life shoots, video art direction, packaging, social media, retail design, experiential design, digital design, print design).
- Develop and maintain brand identity guidelines, ensuring visual consistency across all touchpoints.
- Oversee the customization and adaptation of design assets for different channels and markets.
- Visual research (images, digital, video).
- Lead and contribute in brainstorming sessions around all manners of design and creativity.
- Proactively provide creative solutions for clients and inspire others to do the same.
- Manage an internal design team of Art Directors, Copywriters, Graphic Designers and interns.
- Have strong supervisory, people management, and leadership skills in order to lead and inspire, hire, nurture and oversee their creative team.
- Act as a brand guardian by ensuring that all creative output aligns with the organization's overarching brand identity and design principles.
- Be a brand guardian by ensuring that all of the organization’s creative output/visuals are consistent with the overall brand.
- Lead on-set art direction for campaigns (prepping documents, art direction on-set, etc.).
- Execute and lead campaign rollouts; create different formats, typesetting, video title cards etc…
- Collaborate and oversee post-production, retouching, color sessions and video sessions.
Required Skills:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Fine Arts or Graphic Design or equivalent.
- 15+ years of experience within design, fashion, hospitality, on-set, post-production.
- Strong graphic design and use of typography.
- Expertise in Adobe Creative Suite (InDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop).
- Interest in and good eye for photography, film, art, visual research.
- Knowledge of video editing / animation software.
- Prior experience managing a team of creatives.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- Highly organized self-starter with extreme attention to detail.
- Ability to work with partners to understand detailed requirements and determine a creative vision that matches partner’s briefs.
- Ability to work effectively in a team setting, including synthesizing abstract ideas into concrete design implications.
- A solid grasp of art history, design history, photography and the visual arts, pop culture, social media and counterculture; fluency in current technology, politics, a deep understanding of the zeitgeist of social tastes and current affairs.
- Be open to receiving feedback and constructive criticism.
- Collaborative, flexible team member with a positive attitude and eagerness to learn.
- Big pluses: Figma/Sketch, video/motion graphics, illustration and hand-lettering skills
- Full working knowledge of and experience in social, brand/logo development, print & digital.
- Strong presentation/communication skills.
