The Specialist, Product Engineer (Technical Project) plays a key role in driving early-phase product exploration and supporting end‑to‑end project execution. This role focuses on identifying and developing new concepts, functions, and product opportunities that have never existed before. The specialist will collaborate closely with cross-functional such as design development, cycle management and engineer to translate ideas into feasible development directions, while ensuring alignment across project timelines, objectives, and resources.

 

Key Responsibilities

 

Product Exploration & Concept Development

  • Explore and validate new product concepts or functionalities—especially those that are new to the market or the organization.
  • Identify creative opportunities that enhance product innovation, functionality, user experience, and market relevance.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional team to refine new concepts into clear development directions.

 

Project Coordination & Execution

  • Support project execution together with the manager, ensuring alignment with timelines, objectives, and resource planning.
  • Prepare and brief cross-functional teams on new design concepts, guidelines, and preliminary product specifications.
  • Manage, monitor, and follow up on project progress to ensure milestones are met.
  • Facilitate communication and collaboration among project team members and stakeholders.
  • Update and report project status directly to the manager, ensuring transparency and issue escalation when needed.
  • Prepare and hand over comprehensive project packages to the NPD team or relevant teams for the next development phase.

 

Product Optimization & Cost Management

  • Optimize product design, components, and development techniques to meet target costs.
  • Propose solutions and design adjustments when actual costs exceed targets.
  • Drive the development and implementation of alternative components to improve manufacturing efficiency—particularly enhancing hour contribution rates or reducing production complexity.

 

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (e.g., Mechanical, Industrial, Materials) or other related fields.
  • Experience in jewellery, consumer goods, product engineering, product development, or other transferable industries is an advantage.
  • Strong conceptual thinking with the ability to explore new ideas, functions, and product opportunities.
  • A proactive self‑contributor who can independently research, analyze, and propose new directions.
  • Good command of English—both spoken and written.
  • Strong presentation and communication skills, comfortable presenting concepts to cross‑functional stakeholders.
  • Creative mindset, curious personality, and passion for innovation and early‑phase product exploration.
