Manager, Data Excellence
Role Purpose
Act as the operational lead for the Smart Factory and production data agenda across AAA & BB, ensuring that digital tools, connected systems, and data are designed around real manufacturing needs and embedded into daily ways of working.
This role is the bridge between Production, Manufacturing Excellence, CI, Engineering, and Digital/IT – owning use case definition, business requirements, KPI/data standards, and user adoption, while Digital/IT owns platforms, build, and infrastructure.
The role aligns with Smart Factory and SIRI principles, helping the organization move from manual and fragmented systems toward integrated, data-driven, and intelligent manufacturing operations.
Key Responsibilities
A. Smart Factory Roadmap & Use Cases
- Translate the Manufacturing Excellence and Smart Factory strategy into a practical, phased roadmap for AAA & BB.
- Identify, prioritize, and shape Smart Factory use cases (e.g., real-time OEE, WIP tracking, digital work instructions, traceability, connected equipment).
- Ensure each initiative has clear objectives, value case, success measures, and process/role implications.
B. Business Requirements & Process Design
- Own the definition of business requirements for digital and data solutions impacting production.
- Develop user stories, workflows, and functional specifications in collaboration with Manufacturing Managers, Production, CI, and Engineering.
- Ensure that new solutions are embedded into standard work, tier meetings, and escalation processes, not run as standalone pilots.
C. Data Standards & Single Source of Truth
- Define and maintain standard definitions for core production KPIs (e.g., OEE, downtime, yield, scrap, rework, OTIF).
- Work with Digital/IT and relevant functions to ensure a single, trusted source of truth for production and performance data.
- Lead data quality governance for production data: completeness, accuracy, timeliness, and alignment with on-the-floor reality.
D. Analytics, Insights & Decision Support
- Develop dashboards and analytical views (in partnership with Digital/IT) that support daily, weekly, and monthly performance reviews.
- Provide insights to the Manufacturing Excellence Director, Manufacturing Managers, and Production Directors on trends, bottlenecks, and opportunities.
- Support impact tracking of key initiatives (e.g., automation, layout changes, CI projects) using robust data and analytics.
E. Collaboration with Digital/IT & Functions
- Partner closely with Digital/IT to translate business requirements into technical solutions while respecting architecture, security, and standards.
- Act as the Production-side Product Owner / Key User for Smart Factory solutions (MES, IoT, analytics, etc.).
- Collaborate with CI/OpEx, Production Engineering, Quality, Facility, EHS, and HR/Academy to ensure Smart Factory solutions enable real operational improvement.
F. Adoption, Training & Change Management
- Drive adoption of Smart Factory tools on the shop floor through effective communication, coaching, and support.
- Work with the Production Academy to integrate digital/tool usage into training curricula for operators, line leaders, and managers.
- Monitor usage and effectiveness of digital tools and escalate issues or gaps to the Manufacturing Excellence Director and Digital/IT.
G. Cross-Site Alignment
- Ensure AAA & BB use consistent standards, dashboards, and processes for production data and Smart Factory applications.
- Provide functional guidance and templates that can be leveraged by LPN & VN for alignment, where appropriate (no direct line authority).
Qualifications & Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Computer Science, Data/Information Systems, or related field.
- 7–10+ years of experience in manufacturing, industrial digitalization, MES/Smart Factory projects, or data/analytics roles connected to operations.
- Experience working with cross-functional teams (Production, Engineering, IT/Digital, CI/OpEx).
- Familiarity with Smart Factory, Industry 4.0/SIRI concepts, and production KPI frameworks.
Core Competencies
- Strong understanding of manufacturing processes and shop floor reality.
- Digital and data fluency (systems, KPIs, analytics).
- Requirements gathering and process design skills.
- Stakeholder management and cross-functional collaboration.
- Change management and user adoption focus.
- Analytical and problem-solving mindset.
- Clear communication to both technical and non-technical audiences.
