Reporting to the Manager, Payroll & HR Operations and according to Cluster and Group guidelines, the Payroll Specialist will be responsible for ensuring the accurate and timely monthly payroll process, respecting internal procedures, deadlines and budget.
This role will act as the main point of contact for employees regarding payroll, taxes, compensation & benefits and employment cost topics. The position will support both Spain and Portugal, with a strong focus on the Portuguese market and local legislation.
WHAT WILL YOU DO
Payroll
- Gather and validate information related to employee working hours, absences, overtime, bonuses and deductions.
- Ensure accurate payroll input and collaborate closely with the external payroll provider to guarantee correct salary calculations.
- Execute and monitor payroll approval workflows.
- Prepare and process salary payments through the corresponding electronic systems.
- Ensure correct processing of taxes, social security and employee benefits.
- Support employees with payroll-related questions and provide guidance on compensation and benefits topics.
- Ensure payroll processes are compliant with local legislation and internal policies.
Compensation & Benefits
- Support the definition and implementation of a fair, competitive and business-aligned compensation and benefits structure together with the Performance & Rewards Manager.
- Ensure compensation practices comply with current legislation, including tax and pay equity requirements.
- Benchmark compensation and benefits practices against the market.
Employment Cost & Budget
- Support the preparation and monitoring of employment cost budgets aligned with business needs.
- Analyze variances between actual and budgeted employment costs.
MORE ABOUT YOU
- 5+ years of previous experience as a Payroll Specialist within an international organization.
- Strong knowledge of Portuguese payroll processes and Portuguese labor legislation.
- Knowledge of Spanish payroll and labor law would be considered a strong advantage.
- Experience working with external payroll providers.
- Strong analytical and organizational skills with high attention to detail.
- Ability to manage confidential information with discretion.
- Comfortable working in a fast-paced and international environment.
- Advanced Excel skills and good knowledge of HR/payroll systems.
- Fluent English is required. Portuguese is mandatory and Spanish would be a plus.
