The role

 

People Services sits within the People Services and Employee Relations Team, supporting circa 2700 employees across the business through their end-to-end employee lifecycle, while also enabling the delivery of people-focused initiatives across the wider organisation.

 

As a People Services Advisor, you’ll be responsible for providing trusted, responsive and people-centred advice, guidance and support across the entire employee lifecycle, including our People Policies and processes. You will act as the first point of contact on a broad range of employee lifecycle queries, operating in line with our service strategy framework, escalating cases to other SMEs where required.

 

You’ll be responsible for coaching and supporting our employees and leaders on policies and procedures whilst ensuring legal compliance across the business. Where required you’ll work closely alongside other SMEs in the wider People Team to support the resolution of cases whilst ensuring a continued focus on the employee experience.

What to expect from the role

 

Advice & Tier 1 Case Management

  • Deliver high‑quality first-line HR advice to managers and employees, ensuring compliance with employment law and internal policies.
  • Manage and coach managers through Tier 1/2 ER cases (e.g., probation, disciplinary, sickness, performance, flexible working).
  • Triage queries efficiently, meeting SLAs and supporting formal meetings and ad‑hoc ER activity.
  • Promote self‑service by directing users to relevant policies, tools, and guidance.

 

Employee Lifecycle

 

  • Manage all people administration across starters, movers, leavers, contractual changes, references, and absence/leave.
  • Oversee and progress lifecycle cases through the case management system, aiming for first‑contact resolution.
  • Maintain accurate HR system workflows and data entry across all people systems.
  • Identify and support process improvements to enhance efficiency and consistency.
  • Provide support on ad‑hoc projects and initiatives.

 

Continuous Improvement

 

  • Continuously review and simplify lifecycle processes to improve operational efficiency and employee experience.
  • Develop and improve tools and resources to enable manager and employee self‑service.
  • Stay current on employment legislation and update guidance and documentation accordingly.

 

Other Activity

 

  • Support payroll with escalated pay queries.
  • Manage the company car fleet and employee benefits activity.
  • Provide accurate HR reporting and insights to support better people and business decisions.
  • Support the wider People Team (HRBPs, ER, TA) with admin, queries, and escalations.
  • Ensure secure, compliant handling of HR documentation and contribute to delivering the People Strategy.
  • Provide general administrative and project support as needed.

 

To be successful in the role, you must be able to demonstrate

 

  • Experience delivering first‑line HR advice across the employee lifecycle
  • End‑to‑end ER case management experience (probation, disciplinary, absence, performance, flexible working)
  • Ability to coach managers on HR policy and procedure
  • Experience working in a case‑management or ticket‑based service model
  • Consistent application of employment policy and appropriate risk escalation
  • Confidence using HR systems and people data for decisions and reporting
  • An ability to thrive in a fast‑paced, customer‑focused People function
