Data Platform Engineer

Join Pandora to help lead one of the most compelling data engineering challenges in 2026: the Data & AI Platform that sits underneath the world's largest jewellery company. The platform serves teams across consumer engagement, retail supply chain, finance, merchandising, and manufacturing, operating across more than 100 countries and 6,800 points of sale. What it enables sets the ceiling on what the rest of the business can do with data.

As a Data Platform Engineer, you will design, build, and operate the platform services, SDKs, and automation that product teams depend on. You will take features end to end, from design through production, and share the on-call rotation for the services you own. You will work within patterns set by senior engineers and the Lead Engineer, and you will be trusted to push back when those patterns do not fit. The team's mantra: fast by default, safe by design, fully auditable.

Does that sound like you? Come join us!

Key responsibilities

  • Build and maintain the platform services, SDKs, and automation that Pandora product teams depend on to ship data products.
  • Implement infrastructure-as-code modules, CI/CD pipelines, and automated policy enforcement across the platform.
  • Operate services in production —incident response, post-mortems, and SLO tracking — and keep the services you own healthy over time.
  • Contribute to the platform layer of Microsoft Fabric and Power BI — capacity, workspace governance, access patterns, cost — and its integration with the Databricks lakehouse.
  • Collaborate with product engineers to turn recurring problems into platform capabilities, rather than one-off fixes.

What you bring

  • Production experience building and operating data platforms, developer platforms, or backend services at non-trivial scale.
  • Strong Python, with comfort in at least one additional language.
  • Hands-on Terraform and CI/CD experience in a real production environment — not just demo code.
  • Working knowledge of Databricks, Spark, and Delta Lake, or an equivalent lakehouse stack.
  • Solid engineering fundamentals: testing, code review, debugging distributed systems, and writing code that your future teammates can maintain.
  • Comfort running services in production: on-call, SLOs, incident response, post-mortems.

Nice to have

  • Experience with policy-as-code (OPA, Sentinel, or equivalent), secrets management, and IAM in a multi-account cloud environment.
  • Streaming experience with Kafka, Event Hubs, or similar, including event-driven architectures.
  • Exposure to data quality and lineage tooling such as Unity Catalog, Great Expectations, or OpenLineage.
  • Exposure to the Microsoft data ecosystem — Fabric, Power BI, Azure — from a platform or administration perspective.
