Commercial Finance Senior Specialist (Maternity Cover)

As the Senior Specialist, Commercial Finance ANZ, you will partner closely with business leaders across Australia and New Zealand to drive commercial performance, support strategic decision-making, and identify opportunities to improve business outcomes. Acting as a trusted business partner, you will develop financial models, build business cases, and provide reporting and analysis that influences both short and long-term decision making.

This role plays a key part in supporting revenue performance, network development initiatives, budgeting, forecasting and strategic projects, while collaborating closely with local and global finance teams. You will bring a forward-looking approach, identifying risks and opportunities that drive improved financial performance and support the achievement of strategic business objectives.

 

Key Responsibilities

Commercial Business Partnering

  • Partner with key stakeholders across the ANZ business to drive commercial performance.
  • Deliver financial and commercial insights that support informed business decisions.
  • Identify risks, opportunities, and performance improvement initiatives.
  • Influence stakeholders through clear financial storytelling and recommendations.
  • Support business leaders with financial analysis and decision-making.

 

Financial Planning & Analysis

  • Support the preparation of budgets, forecasts, latest estimates and long-range planning processes.
  • Assist in the preparation and delivery of monthly Business Performance Reviews.
  • Analyse revenue performance across multiple channels and provide actionable insights.
  • Work closely with the FP&A team to ensure accurate forecasting and planning.
  • Support the reporting, forecasting and analysis of revenue across all channels.

 

Network Development & Business Cases

  • Prepare robust financial models and investment appraisals.
  • Develop business cases supporting store openings, relocations and network optimisation initiatives.
  • Evaluate commercial viability and financial returns of strategic opportunities.
  • Support network planning and development activities across ANZ.

 

Performance & Cost Management

  • Review and challenge operating expenditure to support EBIT improvement.
  • Monitor CAPEX, OPEX and key financial performance indicators.
  • Support initiatives that drive efficiencies and improve profitability.
  • Take ownership of network-related financial areas, including CAPEX and rent.

 

Projects & Continuous Improvement

  • Contribute to strategic and ad hoc business projects.
  • Partner with local and global finance teams to improve processes and ways of working.
  • Leverage data, analytics and best practices to support business performance.
  • Support the implementation of continuous improvement initiatives across Commercial Finance.

About You

Experience & Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Commerce, Accounting or a related discipline.
  • CA qualification is essential.
  • 3-5 years' experience in a Commercial Finance, FP&A or Business Partnering role.
  • Experience within a global organisation preferred.
  • Retail, FMCG or consumer goods experience highly regarded.
  • Demonstrated experience building financial models and business cases.

  • Strong commercial acumen and analytical capability.
  • Proven stakeholder management and business partnering skills.
  • Ability to influence and provide recommendations to senior stakeholders.
  • Excellent communication, presentation and financial storytelling skills.
  • Strong attention to detail and problem-solving capability.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Adaptable and comfortable working through change.
  • Strong financial modelling and business case development skills.
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills.
  • Experience with Power BI, Jedox and HFM (Hyperion Financial Management) highly regarded.
  • Ability to interpret complex data and translate insights into actionable recommendations.
  • Collaborative approach with the ability to work effectively across local and global teams.

  • Delivery of forecast and budget outcomes.
  • Quality and effectiveness of commercial insights provided.
  • Stakeholder satisfaction and partnership effectiveness.
  • Financial performance outcomes, including revenue, OPEX, CAPEX and working capital management.
  • Process improvements and efficiencies achieved.
